Raised V Stitch

The Raised V-Stitch is a textured, two-row repeat that alternates standard V-stitches with front post double crochets. It creates a light yet cushiony fabric perfect for blankets and scarves. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Materials & Stitches
  • Yarn & Hook: Any size yarn with a corresponding hook.
  • Chain Multiple: 3 + 4 (e.g., 16, 19, 22, etc.).
  • Stitches Used: Chain (ch), Double Crochet (dc), Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc), Slip Stitch (sl st). [1, 4, 5, 6, 7]
Step-by-Step Instructions

Row 1 (Foundation):Ch in your multiple. Make a dc in the 4th ch from the hook. Ch 1, dc in the same chain (this creates your first V-stitch). Skip 2 chains, make a dc in the next chain, ch 1, dc in the same chain (another V-stitch). Repeat from * across until 1 ch remains. Make a dc in the last ch. Turn. [2, 8]

Row 2 (V-Stitch Row):Ch 3 (counts as your first dc here and throughout). Work a dc, ch 1, dc right into the ch-1 space of the next V-stitch from the previous row. Repeat from * across all V-stitches. End with a dc in the top of the turning chain from the previous row. Turn. [2, 4]

Row 3 (Raised Stitch Row):Ch 3. Work a Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc) around the first leg of the next V-stitch, make a dc in the center ch-1 space, and work a FPdc around the second leg of the V-stitch. Repeat from * across all V-stitches. End with a dc in the top of the turning chain. Turn. [2, 4, 6]

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your project reaches the desired length.
