Thicket stitch
The crochet Thicket Stitch (also known as the Suzette Stitch) is a beautifully textured, dense stitch that works up quickly. It features a reversible, woven look without large gaps, making it perfect for blankets, washcloths, scarves, and bags. It is entirely a one-row repeat. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Materials & Stitches Needed
- Any yarn and appropriate hook size (works well with DK, Worsted, or Bulky).
- SC: Single Crochet
- DC: Double Crochet
- CH: Chain [1, 2, 5]
Step-by-Step Instructions
Row 1:
- Skip the first CH from the hook.
- In the second CH, work 1 SC and 1 DC.
- Skip the next CH, and work 1 SC and 1 DC in the following CH. Repeat between the * * across the row.
- With two chains remaining, skip the second-to-last CH, and work 1 SC in the very last CH. CH 1, turn your work. [1, 6]
Row 2 (The Repeat):
- Work 1 SC and 1 DC into the very first ST (the SC from your previous row).
- Skip the next ST (the DC from your previous row), and work 1 SC and 1 DC into the next ST (the SC from your previous row). Repeat between * * across the row.
- Skip the second-to-last ST, and work 1 SC into the last ST. CH 1, turn. [1, 3, 5, 6]
