Step 1: The Pouch Base

  • Round 1: Ch 26. Place 2 sc in the second ch from your hook. Sc in each remaining ch across until you reach the final ch. Place 2 sc in that last ch. Step 2: The Body (Continuous Rounds)

  • Rounds 3–20: Sc normally into both loops of each stitch around. Move your stitch marker up with every round. Continue repeating this until the pouch reaches roughly 5.5 to 6 inches (14–15 cm) tall. Ensure you end your last round exactly on the side edge of the pouch, then sl st to join. [1, 8, 11, 12, 13]

Step 3: The Drawstring Eyelets

  • Round 21: Ch 3 (counts as your first dc). Dc in each of the next 2 sts. *Ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 3 sts*. Repeat from * to * all the way around the rim. Sl st to the third chain of your starting ch-3 to close the round. [1, 14, 15]
  • Round 22: Ch 1. Sc into every dc stitch and every ch-1 gap space from the previous round. Sl st to join, fasten off, and weave in your loose yarn ends using your needle. [1, 7, 8]

Step 4: Creating & Weaving the Drawstring

  1. Crochet the Tie: Attach your yarn to the hook and chain 75–80 stitches (or until the chain is roughly double the width of your pouch flat). Fasten off and knot both ends tightly.
  2. Weave the String: Lay your pouch flat. Thread the crochet chain onto a yarn needle. Weave it horizontally in and out of the ch-1 eyelet gaps created in Round 21.
  3. Finish: Pull both ends out of the same side, pull tight to test the cinch, and tie them into a decorative bow. [7, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19]
